For Christmas this year, my dear aunt sent me a book called The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. It is a novel about a group of women (much like us!) who get together on Friday night (again, like us) to share their knitting as well as their lives and life experiences (ahem, like us). I am only about a third of the way through the book, but thus far I would recommend it, if for no other reason than to kill a few hours (in the tub? soaking away??).
When we first started meeting, and I subsequently started knitting, I remember how great it was to feel a part of something special. I still feel that way each time we get together and come away feeling happier than when I came (and I know I am not alone in this feeling. :)). This book is the perfect portrait of the camaraderie a group of women with a common knowledge can share.

Wow Sydney! That is really sweet and I know exactly how you feel. My hubby always says I am so happy when I come back from one of our meets. I've read the book too and quite liked it. There is a sequel out now as well, and I also read that they are making a movie of the first one with Julia Roberts in the lead! So there you go.
That's pretty much who I picture as the curly red-head (like her in Pretty Woman) for Georgia. Great! I will have to watch for that one! AND get the sequel after I've finished this one!
this is actually the book that I brought to read on the plane over here, and I totally agree, it was really good.
Oh wow Syndey! your post made me feel all warm n fuzzy inside! Now i'm even more excited about this coming Friday! yippeeee!
